Greetings from Maui!

Chances are you’re accustomed to receiving a letter from Art Olsen, Director of Maui Trade Dollar Association for the past 25 years. With just as many successful coin launches under his belt, Art has decided it’s time to retire.

Please allow me to introduce myself
— my name is Samantha Carbajal, Maui resident for 24 years, and MTDA’s sales representatives for the last three. As the new director, I intend to provide you with the same quality products MTDA has offered over the last 25 years. Maui Trade Dollars will continue to be manufactured in the United States to the highest industry standards, with authorized mintages, and original coin designs.

This year’s coin design is a special one, inspired by the National Park Service’s 100th year birthday celebration.
The 2017 coin features Haleakala National Park, one of the Maui’s most awe inspiring natural landmarks. In the foreground of the coin is the Hawaiian owl, or pueo, often seen silently flying throughout the park. The pueo has its place in Hawaiian legends as protector and guardian of the spirit world. I see it as a beacon guiding MTDA forward into the next quarter century. This will be the first coin in the Series 6 collection (2017-2021), the Heritage Landmark Series, when the set is issued in 2021. For now, Series 5 (2012-2016) and previous series collections are available for purchase.

Saving the most exciting news for last, I’m so thrilled to announce the launch of the Maui Trade Dollar Association online store www.MauiTradeDollar.com

Thank you so much for your continued support. It is my privilege to offer unique products showcasing the best of Maui to a very special group of collectors like you. I hope you have an amazing 2017!

Mahalo nui loa,

Samantha Carbajal
